Apr 5, 2017 | Firm Announcements
PLANO, Texas, April 5th, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Reliant Rehabilitation today announced the appointment of Chris Bird as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Bird’s appointment signifies the company’s increased commitment to its national leadership role in the management of post-acute therapy services to patients throughout the United States.
Mr. Bird brings extensive leadership experience to his new position, including his recent role as Chief Operating Officer of FastMed Urgent Care, one of the largest privately held, multi-state independent providers of urgent care services in the United States. He previously was the CEO of the nation’s largest private equity–backed mobile dental company, ReachOut Healthcare America. Particularly relevant to his new post with Reliant, Mr. Bird was the President of RehabCare (formerly President of Peoplefirst Rehabilitation, Kindred Healthcare’s rehab division prior to the acquisition and merger of RehabCare and Peoplefirst), one of the larger contract-therapy businesses in the country.
Reliant Rehabilitation is a leading national provider of rehabilitation services to skilled nursing facilities and other post-acute providers. Since its founding in 2002, the company has grown rapidly as a result of its focus on maintaining strong customer partnerships and clinical excellence through its proprietary patient-care model. In his new role as Reliant’s CEO, Mr. Bird will assume responsibility for building on the core values and culture of the company by further strengthening customer relationships and delivering industry-leading patient outcomes.
“Reliant has already proven itself as a best-in-class provider of post-acute therapy services. I look forward to working with this talented group of professionals as we take the company to the next level,” stated Mr. Bird, regarding his new role. “Together, we will extend Reliant’s much-needed services to a broader base of patients.”
“We’re excited to have Chris assume the role of CEO as the company embarks on this next exciting phase of growth and focus on our core contract-therapy business,” said Doug Schillinger, Managing Director of DW Healthcare Partners, Reliant’s lead investor. “As an experienced operator of large, multi-site provider businesses, Chris brings the skill set and know-how to effectively expand Reliant’s footprint, both within and outside of the 30 states in which the company currently operates. His leadership qualities will enable us to become the preeminent independent contract-therapy provider of choice, by partnering with our broad base of post-acute customers to better manage rehabilitation therapy services and care on behalf of their patients.”
